Alexis Sanchez is pushing to bring his ill-fated spell at Manchester United to an end and hopes to leave the club before the European transfer window slams shut on September 2, reports claim.

The Chile international is concerned about his chances for game time this season and is seeking a new club, with Italy his most likely destination.

He is behind Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford in the pecking order, while Solskjaer wants to give regular game time to £15million summer signing Daniel James and 17-year-old academy graduate Mason Greenwood.

Sanchez - who was recently involved in a training ground bust-up with Greenwood - looks set to move to Serie A, according to The Times, with Juventus, Napoli, AC Milan and Inter Milan all keen to sign him.

It's unlikely United will get a big transfer fee for him and United may have to subsidise some of his wages to get a deal through, with an initial loan move most probable.

Former Barcelona man Sanchez has played in Italy before during a five-year spell at Udinese and he is keen to return to Serie A. It would bring about the end of a disastrous spell at Manchester United, with Sanchez scoring just three goals in an 18-month stint at Old Trafford.

Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian are among the other players who could leave before the end of the European transfer window.
