Barcelona have now paid a staggering £969million in transfer fees since 2014 after securing the signing of Antoine Griezmann. 

The La Liga champions finally clinched the signing of the Atletico Madrid forward on Friday in a £108m deal.

Barca equaled their transfer record with the acquisition of Griezmann, mirroring the fee paid to sign Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool in January 2018.

The Spanish club have now spent more than any other European club since 2014, according to Voetbal International. 

Luis Suarez, Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele, Malcom, Frenkie de Jong have been among the most expensive signings made over the last five years.

Transfermarkt statistics show the Catalan club have outspent Premier League giants Manchester City and Manchester United in that period.

Barcelona have recorded a net spend of 381 million euros in the five years since July 2014

However, further analysis shows Barca's net spend is 381 million euros, compared with City's net spend of 716 million euros and United's figure of 615 million euros.

Barcelona have added Griezmann, de Jong, Neto and Emerson to their squad already this season and have also been linked with a move to re-sign Neymar. 

The Brazilian was fined £340,000 this week after failing to report to Paris Saint-Germain training as he looks to push through a return to the Nou Camp.
