Manchester United overcame their toughest opponent of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign as interim manager as they defeated Spurs 1-0 at Wembley.

United maintain their 100% record under Solskjaer, with today’s result putting them level on points with fifth-placed Arsenal.

In a lively encounter, both teams went on the front foot in the first half, with Spurs finding the back of the net first. However, Harry Kane was correctly ruled offside.

Shortly before the break, United took the lead. Paul Pogba played a superb pass forward to Marcus Rashford, before the England striker finished calmly across Hugo Lloris’ goal.

United had a lot to thank David De Gea for in the second half, with the Spanish shotstopper making a number of outstanding saves. Kane, Toby Alderweireld and Dele Alli were all thwarted within a strong 10 minute period for Spurs.

However, United held on for the victory, securing a third consecutive clean sheet.
