Manchester United are not expected to appoint a new sporting director which means Ed Woodward will be overseeing the club's transfer business this summer.

United have held talks with Rio Ferdinand, Darren Fletcher and Patrice Evra about forming a transfer committee to discuss potential signings.

The club have also been considering the option of hiring one sporting director to oversee transfers and assist with negotiations.

United's head of corporate affairs Matt Judge negotiated the £18 million deal to sign Daniel James from Swansea City before Woodward signed off the transfer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is heavily involved in the club's transfer plans and the report claims that the United manager, or his assistant Mike Phelan, can pass up any potential signing proposed to them.

Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire are both high on United's summer shortlist.

Solskjaer could also see Romelu Lukaku leave United this summer after the Belgian striker admitted on Tuesday evening that he expects a 'busy summer'.
