Tributes have been paid to the legendary Manchester United coach Eric Harrison who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 81.

Manchester United assistant manager Mike Phelan said: "A great coach and more importantly a great man".

"He taught us how to play , how to never give up , how important it was to win your individual battles and what we needed to do to play for Manchester United Football Club.

Class of '92 member Chris Casper hailed Harrison's ability to 'guide young people and help shape the lives of many more'.

Harrison, who had been suffering from mixed dementia, was pivotal in the development of United's famed Class of '92 generation and was awarded an MBE for his services to football in the 2018 New Year's Honours list after 27 years of service at the club.

Harrison was recruited to Old Trafford in 1981 by Ron Atkinson and oversaw the development of United heroes Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Gary and Phil Neville.

Eric we owe you everything."
