Jose Mourinho says he always felt Alexis Sanchez was a 'sad man' during his time at Manchester United.

“Sanchez… I felt him [to be] not a happy man," Mourinho told The Telegraph.

Chilean international Sanchez arrived at United in the January transfer window of last year as Mourinho's side chased rivals Manchester City in their hunt for the Premier League title.

Speaking about the high-profile transfer of Sanchez the former United manager says he never felt the forward was truly happy at the club, but admitted he might have been partly to blame for failing to utilise his talents properly.

"But the reality is that I always felt [of Sanchez], ‘a sad man’.

Sanchez's arrival did not have the desired impact and he departed Old Trafford on-loan this summer, eight months after Mourinho had himself been dismissed by the club.

As a manager sometimes you have the capacity to get the best out of the players and other times you are not successful in that approach.
