That has led to Solskjaer being expected to be named manager on a permanent basis but not everyone was immediately convinced - with former Manchester United man Paul Ince infamously claiming anyone could have done the job he had.

Manchester United travelled to Wolves in the FA Cup quarter-finals, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to continue his fine form in charge.

However, Gary Lineker could not help but make a sly dig towards Ince during the BBC’s coverage of the FA Cup clash at Molineux.

With the rich vein of form that Solskjaer’s United have continued in since, including the memorable win against PSG in Europe, it’s fair to say Ince has eaten his fair share of humble pie.

“A lot has been said about what Solskjaer has done but anyone could do it, couldn't they Paul?” he asked ahead of the game.

Back in January, the former United man stated things ‘couldn’t get any worse’ than they had been under Jose Mourinho and added that any manager could have led the side to an improvement.

The question was met with laughter by the panel, which included Alan Shearer and Ian Wright, and United fans on Twitter quickly made the clip go viral and thoroughly enjoyed it.
