Manchester City and Manchester United are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League but what are their respective chances of picking up the silverware?

Barcelona are third favourites with a 20% chance of securing the Champions League trophy, before there is a drop-off to Juventus at 11%.

Never mind the intense competition of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus or Lionel Messi’s Barcelona, Man City and Liverpool are the favourites in the eyes of the sports stats gurus.

It’s not good news for Tottenham Hotspur (5%) and Manchester United (4%), who despite impressively getting past Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 respectively, are rated as having less of a chance of success than Ajax (7%).

Obviously these numbers are likely to change depending on tomorrow’s draw as all the four English teams find out who they will be facing in the quarters and will also learn their route to the final, with the draw to take place at 11am (GMT).

United are down as having a 34% chance of reaching the last four, with City at 74%, while making the final for the Red Devils is 11% compared to City’s 49%.

Sports analysts experts at FiveThirtyEight have crunched the data and predicted that two English sides above all others are favourites to win the competition.
