After 12 games caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has finally suffered a defeat while in charge of Manchester United.

It came in frustrating circumstances in the Champions League against a smart and disciplined PSG side who focused on containing United's new found attacking threat and once United lost the pace of Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial at half-time the Parisians came out firing in the opening 15 minutes of the half and had the game potentially the tie - all sewn up.

Paul Pogba was later sent off for a poor challenge that only compounded frustrations.

United will need a strong reaction and a good performance to get over the PSG defeat and advancing in the FA Cup could be the perfect remedy.

PSG showed their experience and quality against United and if they defend in Paris as well as they did in Manchester then United have little hope, but Solskjaer isn't a stranger to a European miracle.

In hindsight, replacing Lingard and Martial for Sanchez and Mata were costly substitutions that lost United their tempo and energy all the while releasing PSG from their shackles.

The Blues were humiliated 6-0 by Manchester City at the weekend, the players look lost and the pressure is mounting on Maurizio Sarri.
