Manchester United will have to pay £7million if they want to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to reports.

After eight games, the Red Devils are still yet to hit double figures in terms of points and are sitting 12th in the table.

Jose Mourinho was sacked last December after a 3-1 defeat at Anfield, with Solskjaer reportedly fearful an equally emphatic defeat could bring an end to his reign.

Prior to the international break, the Red Devils looked helpless as they were beaten 1-0 by Newcastle at St James’ Park.

Liverpool will travel to Old Trafford once domestic football returns.

It is understood Solskjaer will receive a far lower pay out than Mourinho because he earns around £9m less per year at the club.

The Norwegian is under considerable threat of being sacked by the Old Trafford board after leading the club to their worst ever Premier League start.
