Jack Grealish has signed a new five-year deal at Aston Villa in a shock move by the Villa captain.

The midfielder had been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in this summer transfer window.

He has now put pen to paper on a new £140,000-a-week contract at Villa Park and announced it on the club's Twitter page.

'Hi guys, delighted to say that I have signed a new deal with Aston Villa,' Grealish said in the post.

Revealed last month that United had held talks with the West Midlands club over a deal for the 25-year-old.

Having seen a move for Jadon Sancho stall, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was keen to bring in Grealish, but Villa would have demanded £80million for him.
