Jose Mourinho praised the performance of Scott McTominay as Manchester United defeated his Tottenham side in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

Scotland international McTominay returned to the United line-up following an injury which had seen him miss his side's previous three matches.

The 22-year-old enjoyed an impressive comeback as United returned to winning ways following a string of three straight matches without victory.

"In the second-half we make that mistake and the game is a different game, after that, one injury here, one injury there, they did well, the referee allowed them to do it."

"Because of the way we come to the game by the emotional way, they had more emotion than us, you see for example McTominay performance, the globality of his performance, he was dominant.

"That's the way we normally do and didn't lose because of an attacking set up," Mourinho told reporters when asked about his side's attacking approach.

Speaking after the match Mourinho admitted United's added emotion aided them in getting the win, but insisted it could have been a different result had his side not conceded a penalty after the half-time break.
