According to a report from Italian publication Calciomercato, Manchester United’s move to extend Paul Pogba’s contract by one more year has poured cold water on the Juventus’ plans to make a swoop for the Frenchman next summer.

Manchester United have reportedly triggered Paul Pogba‘s one-year renewal option in his United contract, extending the French World Cup-winning midfielder’s stay at Old Trafford by a further year.

Had Manchester United not exercised the respective option, Paul Pogba would have been free to leave in the summer of 2021.

As it stands now, United could get another year of prime Paul Pogba.

But, with the renewal being exercised, Juve might have to wait until the summer of 2022 or could pay Manchester United the asking price of Pogba to secure his services next summer.

And considering United’s lackluster run in the Premier League so far, it would be reasonable to think a move away from the ‘Theater of Dreams’ would the best option for an ambitious athlete like Pogba.

Pogba recently revealed his desire to play for Real Madrid one day.
