Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson has joined David De Gea and Joe Hart in making 18 clean sheets in a Premier League season, and tying in third place in the overall charts.

The former Roma man has made a huge impression in his first season in English football, after arriving at Anfield in the summer for an eye-watering £65million fee.

Alisson briefly became the most expensive goalkeeper in the history of the game, before Chelsea signed Kepa Arrizabalaga, and has his eyes set on finishing the season with the second most clean sheets ever in a campaign.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has now kept 18 clean sheets in his first season in English football

Jurgen Klopp hailed the Brazilian following his shut out against Chelsea at Anfield

After shutting out Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday in a 2-0 win, Alisson moved onto 18 clean sheets for the season.

In doing so he pulled level with Manchester United's David De Gea who finished the 2017-18 with the same amount of stops - along with Joe Hart who also registered the same total for Manchester City, in both the 2010/11 season and also the 2012/13.

Alisson pulled off a crucial save in the second half at Anfield to deny Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard, at a time when the Blues were threatening to stage a comeback.

Jurgen Klopp was keen to heap praise on his man between the sticks, later saying: 'There were 10 minutes when Chelsea changed their system and had their chances and Alisson saved our life.

Alisson cost Liverpool an eye-watering £65million though has been a revelation this season

Petr Cech still holds the record with 24 clean sheets during the 2004/05 season with Chelsea

Alisson pulled level in third place with Joe Hart and David De Gea on 18 shut outs for the season

'Apart from that we controlled and dominated the game for 80 minutes which is the best you can say about a game against Chelsea.'

Liverpool have four games remaining this season, meaning Alisson has the chance to finish the campaign with 22 shut-outs.

This would leave the Brazilian two short of the all time record of 24 set by Petr Cech with Chelsea during the 2004/05 campaign.

Currently sitting in second place is former Liverpool icon Pepe Reina, who won the golden gloves with 20 in his first season in English football (2005/06), under the guidance of Rafael Benitez.
