According to The Athletic, Manchester United could end up losing star midfielder Paul Pogba on a free transfer once again in eighteen months’ time.

The 27-year-old Pogba came through the youth ranks at Manchester United but left the club in 2012 on a free transfer in search of regular first-team football.

(h/t The Athletic) Pogba has eighteen months left on his current contract with Manchester United, which expires in the summer of 2022.

And after a poor start to the 2020/21 campaign, history could be set to repeat itself, as Pogba could be on his way out on a free transfer once again.

This opens up the possibility of United standing to lose him for nothing in eighteen months’ time.

Having joined Juventus, the Frenchman grew into one of the finest young central midfielders in the game, prompting Manchester United to shell out the big bucks to bring him back to the club in 2016.

If Pogba is allowed to run down his contract and leave for nothing in 2022, it will not paint the club in a good light.
