Amongst Manchester United’s many problems last term was an alarming lack of goals.

There’s no doubt that Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku all know where the back of the net is, but they’re all consistently inconsistent. Perhaps Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would look to start the overhaul by bringing in his own striker.

According to German publication Kicker, translated by The Sun, United have enquired about the possibility of taking the top-class Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich.

The 30-year-old Pole has two years left on his current deal in Bavaria although contract talks have stalled. The Reds are looking to swoop and take advantage of a stand-off in negotiations.

Per Kicker’s Transfermarkt page (posted at 9:20AM).

Understandably, Bayern is looking to tie Lewandowski down until 2022 but if no progress is made they may be forced into parting with the prolific forward.

For United, if a deal to acquire Lewandowski is possible, they should go all out to get him. He’d be a massive upgrade on anything we have – although I do highly doubt the Munich man would leave, particularly with no Champions League football on offer.

Even just showing interest in Lewandowski tells you Solskjaer’s thoughts on Lukaku. The Belgian has struggled massively this season and personally, I do get the impression that if the right offer comes in for the ex-Everton man, he could well leave Old Trafford this summer.
