Man United will ask Paris St-Germain to pay for damage caused by fans who ripped at around 800 seats in the away end at Old Trafford last night.

The M.E.N was sent a picture of a hole in the roof of one carriage, said to have been caused by PSG fans.

United have been charged with blocked stairways and the throwing of objects while PSG have been charged with the setting off of fireworks, throwing of objects, acts of damage and crowd disturbance.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) later confirmed two trams suffered minor damage and had to be taken out of service.

Nearly 3,500 PSG supporters made the trip for the Champions League clash on Tuesday night, which their team won 2-0.

During the match, some United fans sitting nearby complained of seats being thrown as well as spitting and other anti-social behaviour.

Both United and PSG have been charged with disciplinary offences over last night's match.
