Manchester United moved up to seventh in the Premier League after beating Brighton 3-1.

Andreas Pereira opened the scoring with a deflected strike after 17 minutes before a bundled own-goal from Davy Propper doubled the Red Devils’ advantage.

Lewis Dunk pulled one back for the visitors but Marcus Rashford made the points safe shortly after, slamming Anthony Martial’s cut-back in off the crossbar.

Express Sport have rated how the Manchester United players performed against Brighton, but do you agree?

Manchester United player ratings vs Brighton & Hove Albion – Premier League

GK: David de Gea – 5

Overplayed the collision with Aaron Connolly in the first-half but eventually shrugged off the knock to his jaw and had a fairly routine afternoon otherwise.

Denied Neal Maupay from close range.

RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6

Broke forward well and brought about a penalty appeal when his cross appeared to be handled by Dunk.

Building a good relationship with Daniel James, which bodes well for the future.

CB: Victor Lindelof – 7

Solid enough after shaking off a back injury, and this performance will have done wonders for the United squad’s confidence as a whole.

CB: Harry Maguire – 7

Showed off his passing range with a great ball for Rashford in the opening minutes and was a key man for United in possession, bringing the ball forward confidently.

Survived a handball shout in the build up to the opener and was feeling confident enough to try his luck from 25 yards, while the captain was dominant in the air.

LB: Brandon Williams – 6

Understandably looked nervous on his full Premier League debut and was lucky not to be punished when he lost track of Connolly just before half-time.

Then escaped a potential red card for a high boot on Steven Alzate but settled well thereafter and was denied a first goal by Mat Ryan.

CM: Scott McTominay – 7

Played with his customary gusto, charging around the pitch and thundering into tackles as he looked to spark his side into life.

Played a big role in the second as his pressure forced Davy Propper to bundle into his own net, but suffered a nasty injury in the closing moments.

CM: Fred – 8

A really impressive game from the Brazilian, who matched the intensity of his midfield partner.

Unlucky not to get on the scoresheet when Ryan fumbled his drive onto the crossbar but dominated the midfield and can be pleased with his display.

RAM: Daniel James – 8

Had the measure of Dan Burn all afternoon and gave the Brighton defender a torrid time, beating him to the byline on numerous occasions.

Set up Rashford for a golden chance, only for the England international to skew his effort wide when it looked easier to score.

CAM: Andreas Pereira – 7

Quick footwork early on drew a foul from Dale Stephens, showing a signal of the midfielder’s intent.

Carried the ball well and was rewarded with his first goal since April, although he was lucky to see his deflected strike find the back of the net after ignoring better-placed team-mates.

Mix-up at the back when Pereira was left marking Dunk, unsurprisingly getting nowhere near the towering defender as Brighton got back in the game.

LAM: Marcus Rashford – 8

His pace caused problems throughout as he looked to play on the shoulder of the Brighton rearguard and one sublime piece of skill showed he was in the mood today.

Blasted United’s third home with an emphatic finish from 12 yards, but then missed an absolute sitter from much closer in after good work from James.

ST: Anthony Martial – 8

Recycled the ball well for the opener, and combined with Rashford to peg back the Brighton defence.

Had a penalty shout waved away after his effort struck Shane Duffy’s hand, then showed great composure to play in Rashford for the third after being forced out wide by Ryan.

SUB: Jesse Lingard (on for Pereira, 69 mins) – 5

Didn’t really get into the game.

SUB: Marcos Rojo (on for Willians, 90 mins) – N/A

Allowed Williams an ovation.

SUB: Mason Greenwood (on for Martial, 90 mins) – N/A

Another appearance for the stats.
