Manchester United have reportedly used their own players to try and convince transfer targets to move to Old Trafford.

England internationals Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard were tasked with attempting to lure Leicester defender Harry Maguire last year.

United broke the world record fee for a defender when they splashed out £80million on the centre-back.

Rashford and Lingard played alongside the Foxes star for England and put in a word to push the transfer along.

Leicester ace James Maddison earned his first call-up to the international stage last year so United encouraged Rashford and Lingard to do the business once again.

The MEN add that a third player was also spoken to by Rashford and Lingard while away with Gareth Southgate's squad. And that is Solskjaer's priority signing Jadon Sancho - who is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Earlier this week Solskjaer admitted he used his players to help scout potential targets.
