Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has dismissed fears of the sack, despite overseeing Manchester United’s worst start in 31 years.

On the eve of Jose Mourinho’s return to Old Trafford the Norwegian is adamant his position is safe.

“We have had some good results against good teams and we’ve got a plan for Wednesday night.”

Mourinho can pile the pressure on his successor when Tottenham face United on Wednesday night.

“Look forward to the next game, look at the long term, plan things with the board.

“Three days or four days are not going to change a whole lot, but these two games are great chances for us to improve things and prove to ourselves that we can continue in the vein we have had against some of the better sides.

The work is always geared on us improving, but we’re not getting all the results we’ve deserved.” Mourinho was sacked last December after picking up 26 points from his first 17 games.
