Manchester United under Mourinho seems a long time ago already. After putting Tottenham to the sword, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s incredible work has scaled new heights.

Going into the match, there were claims that this would be TOO big a test for them. After all, Spurs are no Cardiff. Or Huddersfield. Or Bournemouth, Newcastle or Reading.

But Manchester United’s swagger is back these days and Rashford’s sublime low strike - after the most delicate of passes from Paul Pogba - gave them all three points.

In that one move that lead to the England international scoring the winner, they made Jose Mourinho look a fool.

It is an open secret the 55-year-old trusted just a handful of United players by the end.

And Pogba and Rashford were among the two who he simply did not take to.

Pogba, in Mourinho’s eyes, should have controlled the United midfield by sticking to his job.

Keeping things simple and passing the ball short, rather than long.

But there was nothing simple about the World Cup winner’s sublime pass that freed Rashford.

Pogba is a man reborn and, against Tottenham, delivered one of his most disciplined performances in a United shirt yet.

Another player Mourinho was wrong about was Rashford.

The Portuguese never deemed him good enough to lead the United line.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and then Romelu Lukaku, would start over the 21-year-old during Mourinho’s time in charge.

Rashford would then be shunted onto the wing amid Mourinho’s doubts over his finishing.

But the 21-year-old showed his class with another impressive centre-forward display.

He held the ball up well, linked up with the midfield and never gave Tottenham’s defenders a minutes rest.

His goal was the icing on the cake.
