Jose Mourinho has lost on his return to Old Trafford after Manchester United beat his Tottenham team 2-1 on Wednesday evening.

Rashford got United off to the perfect start after his fierce shot beat Paulo Gazzaniga at his near post just six minutes into the encounter. The 22-year-old was inches away from getting his second after his thunderous effort was sent crashing onto the crossbar.

However, against the run of play, Dele Alli equalised after his sublime touch created space inside the area before finishing past David de Gea. Just a minute into the second half, United were awarded a penalty after Moussa Sissoko fouled Rashford. Having won the spot-kick, Rashford stepped up and calmly converted the penalty to restore United's lead in front of the 73,252-strong inside the Theatre of Dreams.
