Manchester United and Manchester City have been asked why they haven't signed Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur by former Arsenal defender Paul Merson.

Manchester United are crying out for a goal-scoring centre-forward, and if I'm being honest I think Man City are too.

Now 27, Kane has remained with Spurs throughout his professional career, scoring 143 Premier League goals for the North London side including two Golden Boot-winning campaigns.

However, he is still yet to win a trophy in his career and Merson has questioned why United or City have not made a move to secure his services.

"He's one of the best in the business at scoring goals, but he's scoring 30 goals a season and not getting chances to win trophies, what's the point in being there?

If Sergio Aguero gets injured, they miss too many chances.

Aguero is two shots, one goal."
