The first half of Manchester United's FA Cup third round replay will have not only impressed Nuno Espirito Santo in the visiting dugout but also a certain Jurgen Klopp who was no doubt watching on from home.

As a defensive unit it wasn't a flawless performance, despite the clean sheet, and those three moments in the first half showed Solskjaer exactly what they need to work on in the coming three days before the trip down the M62.

You have to go back to April 2017 to the last time Liverpool lost at Anfield and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be under no illusion that Sunday's game is going to be difficult despite United being the only team in the league to have already taken points off the league leaders this season.

The back four shored up in the second half and it was a welcome clean sheet for Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire but Solskjaer will know that they can't afford to be that open at the back against Liverpool or the game could be out of sight within half an hour.

While creativity issues were halting United at the other end they were looking fragile each time the visitors pushed forward with space to be found in behind United's back line.

United return to Anfield on Sunday for the first time since the humbling in Jose Mourinho's final game in charge and it's going to take a tactical masterclass and an all round near perfect performance if they're going to come away with a result.

The game ended with a clean sheet and progression to the fourth round in what was, Marcus Rashford injury aside, a positive night for Solskjaer's side but there were three moments in particular in the first half that will have concerned the United manager.
