Manchester United scouts ruled out a move for Bruno Fernandes this summer as they were concerned about his adaptability, according to reports.

The Portugal international was heavily linked with a move to several Premier League sides over the summer including United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham.

According to MailOnline, United had extensively scouted Fernandes but came to the conclusion that he would not be a good fit for the system Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to play at Old Trafford.

The report claims that United scouts had concerns over Fernandes' decision-making and his pass completion rate of 75.1 per cent was 'not deemed high enough'.

United failed to sign a new central midfielder this summer following the departure of Ander Herrera but have held firm following Real Madrid's interest in Paul Pogba.

Zinedine Zidane had made the signing of Pogba one of his priorities for the summer but Madrid have been unable to put a financial package together that would tempt United into selling.

United made an attempt to sign Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United but were left stunned by the 21-year-old's £50 million valuation.
