Tottenham have reportedly moved ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Gareth Bale on loan from Real Madrid this summer.

Meanwhile, United are continuing negotiations with Madrid over full-back Sergio Reguilon, but will not match the Spanish giants £27m asking price.

Madrid are desperate to offload Bale and will consider subsidising a portion of his £600,000 per week wages in order to facilitate the 31-year-old’s Premier League return.

The former England international thrived while on loan in Serie A last season, but Roma are not willing to meet United’s £20m asking price.

Roma are growing increasingly frustrated with United in their pursuit of centre-back Chris Smalling and are beginning to seek alternatives, according to the Daily Mail.

The agents of Uros Racic have confirmed United’s interest in the Valencia midfielder, but have denied reports that a £27m bid has already been lodged for the Serbian.

However, Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre again insisted yesterday that the England international will not be sold this summer after United failed to match their £108m asking price.
