Marcus Rashford said he felt like he had let his teammates down after he had to come off in the second half of the FA Cup third round replay against Wolves.

Manchester United's top goal scorer this season was rested by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the fixture at Old Trafford but with United seeking a winner and a place in the fourth round the United manager brought him on slightly after the hour mark.

Solskjaer admitted after the game that it was a decision which backfired when the England international was forced to withdraw after just 15 minutes on the pitch and headed straight down the tunnel having appeared to have aggravated a back injury which he has been carrying for a while.

Solskjaer had said after the Norwich game that the forward had been playing through the pain barrier and carrying a couple of knocks this season and the United manager admitted the decision to bring him on in the second half backfired.

Solskjaer said the England international would be monitored in the coming days ahead of the game against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

"Never want to feel like I’ve let my teammates, the club and most importantly the fans down so did my very best to carry on tonight and was gutted to come off," Rashford said.

Put a bit of gel on, then strap it round."
