Manchester United received a fitness boost this week as Scott McTominay, Axel Tuanzebe and Timothy Fosu-Mensah all travelled to the warm weather training camp in Marbella to step up their recoveries from injury.

The trio trained separately away from the main group, and while they might not be ready to face Chelsea on Monday, the trio are edging closer to a return.

Paul Pogba is another player who has progressed in the winter break, posting regular updates to Instagram of his fitness schedule in the gym. Pogba has been out since the Christmas period, and his return for the end of the season would be a boost for United.

Marcus Rashford did not travel to Spain and is the only first team player who is not nearing a return.

Solskjaer might not welcome any of his injured players back for the trip to Stamford Bridge, but his injury list is shortening and he could have a near-fully fit squad by the end of the month.

Rashford has been sidelined since he sustained a double stress fracture to his back during United's win over Wolves last month.

Solskjaer said on January 19 that Rashford's injury would require six weeks to heal and that he would need extra time on top of that to rehabilitate.

"Yeah it's a [back] stress fracture," Solskjaer said on January 19. "He'll be out for a while. He won't be back until after the mid-season break. Normally six weeks to heal, then he needs rehab after that."

Possible return date: April.

Paul Pogba

Pogba hasn't played for United since Boxing Day and underwent ankle surgery at the beginning of January. He has been posting videos to Instagram of him running and doing fitness work in the gym.

Before United's second-leg against Man City, Solskjaer said that Pogba is ready to resume training, although he did not travel to Spain this week.

If Pogba re-joins his teammates this week, he could be ready to return to action by the end of the month.

Possible return date: Late February/early March.

Like Pogba, McTominay has not played for United since Boxing Day but his absence is due to knee ligament damage.

McTominay offered an update recently, saying: "Obviously the gym work is tough, the running outside is tough. You just have to do your best and make sure your injury is right. Hopefully I will be back as soon as possibly can."

The Scot was pictured in non-contact training in Marbella, however United posted on Thursday that the Chelsea game would likely come too soon for a return.

Possible return date: Late February.

Axel Tuanzebe

Tuanzebe's not played since before Christmas and has struggled with muscle problems. He trained separately with McTominay in Marbella, and has stepped up a return to fitness.

Like McTominay, United say Tuanzebe is unlikely to return for the Chelsea game.

Possible return date: Late February.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah

Fosu-Mensah has been out for some time but did make an appearance for the U23s a month ago. The Dutchman was part of the training squad in Spain, but United said on Thursday that he has a 'small issue' with his quad so will not play against Chelsea.

Fosu-Mensah is aiming to be fully fit later this month.

Possible return date: Late February.

Lee Grant

Third-choice goalkeeper Grant will undergo surgery and be out of action for around three months. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said he hoped the veteran 'keeper would be back before the end of the season.

Possible return date: April.
