Pep Guardiola is planning sweeping changes to his teams for Manchester City's next two games as he prepares for challenges ahead.

Guardiola has insisted that they need to be in the best form possible in the league in order to be sharp for knockout rounds, and with two cup games coming up he is planning to make full use of the squad to make sure that as many players as possible are in the best rhythm that they can be - rather than resting stars for certain games.

"I am going to play players who did not play in Sheffield and then for the United game, I will players who don’t play against Fulham," he said.

"Hopefully it isn’t going to happen, but there is time for a player to get injured.

The Blues boss has been critical of the fixture schedule in recent weeks, pointing out that there are too many games and too little time to rest for the players in their packed calendars.

For us, another player will play, it’s the only thing I can do."

Now we have a game, five days until the next one, after Fulham we have three days, then four days to the Tottenham game, then seven days to West Ham, after that 13 days to Leicester, so there is not much time to make people rest.
