Our Player of the Month for December has been in sparkling form but missed the victory over Reading in the Emirates FA Cup third round with an injury sustained against Newcastle United in our last Premier League assignment.

However, after his arrival in Dubai was delayed due to treatment, he linked up with his colleagues in order to benefit from the warm weather and intense training under the watchful eye of caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Anybody at Old Trafford on the night of the reverse to Spurs will accept it was an unfair scoreline with the Reds particularly impressive in the first half but unable to take our chances to alter the course of the game. It still rankles with Pogba.

“I remember the first game [against Spurs] when we lost 3-0 at home,” he told us this week. ”I’ve still got it in my mind. We don’t want to let this happen again.

“It’s Tottenham, you know. They’re a very good team, they’re in the top four, so it’s going to be a big game. It’s going to be a tough one. We need points and they need them as well. We’ll see – it’s going to be a tough one.”

Watch the moment Paul Pogba showed an amazing piece of skill while being interviewed in Dubai this week.

Pogba accepts the Reds still have plenty of ground to make up in the table but the recent run of five successive victories in all competitions has probably got some of the other clubs looking over their shoulders.

”We’re still far [away] but it’s good that people forget about us a bit,” he said.

“We’re just coming our way, staying focused and trying to do our things – that’s what we need to do.”
