It was a superb team display from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, who were forced to defend doggedly in the final 10 minutes.

Prior to that, the Reds had really applied the pressure at the start of the second half and grabbed the decisive goal on 71 minutes.

It was a brilliant team move that finally broke Burnley open, with Paul Pogba starting off the passage of play that ultimately finished with his driven volley sneaking through the legs of Nick Pope.

Pogba, playing in a slighter deeper role in central midfield, enjoyed a superb night in East Lancashire and no player completed more passes at Turf Moor than our no.6.

“Paul had the most touches of any player on the pitch and had a 90 per cent pass accuracy, winning 100 per cent of his tackles and eight ball recoveries as well,” reports Statman Dave in his analysis, which you can watch below. “So he was not only doing the forward things, but the things going backwards as well.”

After such a commanding performance, it is no surprise that Paul was named Man of the Match by supporters in our Official App.

The midfielder finished top of the poll with a resounding 81 per cent of the vote - which is one of the highest winning margins this season.

Eric Bailly impressed on Tuesday night and he produced a potentially goal-saving challenge in the first half to deny Chris Wood. The Ivorian also had to be at the very top of his game to handle Burnley’s physical frontmen.

He earned seven per cent of the vote in our poll, with Bruno Fernandes third on three per cent. But it was Pogba who came away with the Man of the Match gong, and for the first time this season.

81 per cent – Paul Pogba
7 per cent – Eric Bailly
3 per cent – Bruno Fernandes
2 per cent – Harry Maguire
2 per cent – Nemanja Matic
2 per cent – Marcus Rashford

*Remaining votes split between three other Reds

Within the match centre of our Official App, you can find Opta statistics on the players’ performances and one of the most fascinating areas is always the ‘Influencer’ scores.

Based on core data, like passes completed, chances created, saves, goals, Opta award a ranking out of 100 per cent. It’s a live figure, too, so fans will see scores rise and fall during the 90 minutes.

As you can see below, Pogba was top of the pile on Tuesday night and he was interestingly followed by his midfield partner Nemanja Matic, who was widely praised by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

95 per cent – Paul Pogba
86 per cent – Nemanja Matic
83 per cent – Luke Shaw
83 per cent – Bruno Fernandes
82 per cent – Eric Bailly
81 per cent – Marcus Rashford

Thanks to everybody who voted in our Man of the Match poll - and congratulations to Paul Pogba.
