Manchester United striker was embarrassingly caught going through the motions on an exercise bike after missing Wednesday’s training session.

The Belgium international has travellled to Australia with the rest of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first team squad, despite the mounting speculation surrounding his future.

Lukaku slipped down the United pecking order following United’s decision to replace Jose Mourinho with Solskjaer in last December.

Marcus Rashford, who signed a new long-term contract last week, has assumed the mantle of first choice striker, while Solskjaer has already promised youngster Mason Greenwood he will get more first team opportunities after making his first Premier League start on the final day of last season.

The former Everton and Chelsea striker is said to feel let down by the way in which he has been treated by Solskjaer and is determined to engineer a move to Inter whose new manager Antonio Conte is desperate to sign him after missing out on the chance to bring him to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2017.

Lukaku missed United’s training session on Wednesday carrying what was described as ‘a little problem’ and was joined by Anthony Martial to ‘take part in alternative gym-based training’ but was hardly overexerting himself, judging by the footage captured by Sky Sports News.

Solskjaer remains happy to keep Lukaku but he’s made it clear to the Belgian that Marcus Rashford is his first choice striker.

The Red Devils take on Perth Glory on Saturday in their first game of pre-season and it remains to be seen whether Lukaku will be involved.

United, though, want £75m in full if they’re to release Lukaku and Inter are struggling to produce an acceptable financial package.
