Simon Mignolet expects former club Liverpool to turn this season's Premier League glory into a new era of dominance.

The Belgian goalkeeper's former side can go 25 points clear of Manchester City this weekend in a stunning campaign that has seen them win 24 of 25 league games.

Mignolet, who spent six years at Anfield, believes his former side can emulate their rivals Manchester United's era of dominance from the 1990s.

It started when I was still there and was only heading in one direction', he told The Mirror.

'Last season we won the Champions League and winning that first trophy was very important for the dressing-room.

The hunger is even greater to win trophies and you want to get your hands on the next one.

The 31-year-old made 204 appearances for Liverpool after joining from Sunderland in 2013.He moved home to Club Bruges in 2019 and will come up against United in the last-32 of the Europa League next week.
