Manchester United’s hunt for their next permanent manager continues, although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is doing a truly marvellous job at this point in time.

The latest name to be linked with the job is none other than Gareth Southgate. According to Sky Sources, United are considering giving the Three Lions boss the job, and you’d imagine it’s due to the fact that he was brilliant at the World Cup for England.

Southgate’s biggest trait is the fact that he has reunited that England dressing room. The players are enjoying themselves and playing freely. Does that remind you of anyone already at Old Trafford? Particularly after today’s result?

Sometimes I just think that jobs are tailor-made for certain people. Southgate is England through and through and honestly, I cannot see him leaving international duty because he loves his country and no other job would live up to that for him.

Solskjaer is a Norwegian version of Southgate in my opinion. If the club want to go down that route, then I’d much prefer to see the Baby Faced Assassin given the role permanently.

For now, though, United aren’t in any rush. They have about another five months to work out who they want to employ, and I’d be shocked if they make any sort of permanent appointment until this season is over. If Solskjaer keeps this up, though, then Edward Woodward may have no choice…
