Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has urged Manchester United supporters not to worry about the players' attitude following their anodyne FA Cup defeat by Wolves.

"We're ready to go again after internationals," Solskjaer replied when asked what his message would be to United fans.

United produced what Solskjaer described as their 'poorest performance' from his 19 matches in caretaker charge to suffer a quarter-final elimination at Molineux, where the 2-1 reverse flattered them.

"We're in a great position in the league, got the Champions League, so very disappointing tonight we're not in the semis."

"It was a big step backwards," Solskjaer said of the Wolves setback.

Despite the sudden gloom, Solskjaer remained upbeat about United's chances of finishing third in the league and their upcoming Champions League quarter-final with Barcelona.

Solskjaer reverted to the tried and trusted sextet of Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford in attack but Martial and Lingard were making their first starts in over a month and Herrera returned three weeks on from the hamstring injury he sustained against Liverpool.
