Paul Pogba will have been encouraged to stay at Manchester United by their summer transfer business and emphatic start to the season against Chelsea.

That's according to former United assistant and Premier League manager Steve McClaren, who believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is doing all he can to persuade Pogba to commit to the club long-term.

He can build character and become a Manchester United player, because he's not that yet."

"I think he can dominate for Manchester United more than he's doing and he can do it more cionsistsntly.

"And I think Manchester United have demonstrated in the summer with their signings and the first game to Pogba that 'they want me' and 'this is a good team' and 'I could win things here'.

McClaren added that United's promising start to the season may persuade Pogba to knuckle down for the next year and continue his good relationship with Solskjaer.

The Frenchman was among the many United players to impress in the opening game of season, as the Reds beat Chelsea 4-0.
