'We want to build a team around Jack': Aston Villa boss Dean Smith scolds rumours of Grealish being targeted by Manchester United after starring role in draw at Old TraffordJack Grealish got his fifth goal this season as Aston Villa held Manchester United The Villa playmaker has often been linked with a big-money move from the sideBut Villa boss Dean Smith insists Grealish will be at the club for years to come

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has underlined his belief that Jack Grealish will remain at his boyhood club for years to come amid talk that the Premier League's big guns will try and buy him.

Grealish, 24, scored Villa's first as they held Manchester United to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday. It was his fifth goal in 14 games in all competitions so far this season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said Grealish was the bets player on the pitch and while Smith agreed with the United boss, he swiftly told him that an approach for the midfielder would not be successful.

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith says he will build his team around star man Jack Grealish

'I'd say it if I saw opposition player running game,' Smith said, according to The Sun. 'I've seen speculation in the press with pundits linking him with other clubs.

'What they don't realise, I've worked with this kid for 14 months, he tells the story himself of jumping into a bush in the garden at six years old pretending it was the Holte End.

'He's Villa through and through, he's now performing on the biggest stage he can in the Premier League for Aston Villa. He's playing well, scoring goals, creating assists and it's a club he loves.

Grealish scored for Villa as they held Manchester United to a 2-2 draw on Sunday

'He signed a new deal at the start of last season, we've got two very wealthy owners who want to build the team around Jack.

'They can keep linking him, but this is the one club he loves and that's probably the most important thing.'

Villa are back in Premier League action on Wednesday night, taking on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
