Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has made it clear that Gareth Bale is not in his plans at the Bernabeu.

Zidane's departure a fortnight later convinced Bale to stay but the Frenchman has since returned and the pair have failed to reconcile their differences.

Zidane left the club as he felt they were unwilling to listen to his plans for the future but a first half of the season without him has given Madrid's board a wake-up call.

Madrid need to move players on to fund their plans and Zidane has told his board that he is happy to sell Bale, according to the Independent.

Real slapped a £100m price tag on Bale last summer to deter suitors but Zidane's power has increased since his arrival and the club are now likely to accept a fee significantly lower than that.

More: Manchester United FC. Bale is a long-term target for Manchester United and the Red Devils have twice tried to prise the winger away from the Bernabeu since his move there in 2013.

There are few clubs in world football able to foot Bale's reported £500,000-a-week wages and he is likely to be forced into accepting a reduction to move elsewhere.
